Description
This boxed set, Set A, includes 23 Hi-Lo paperback books, one copy of each title, for students in grades 9-12. It has the lowest Lexile level in Saddleback’s high school Hi-Lo Classroom Libraries. BR stands for Beginning Reader, and every book falls within the BR-HL200L Lexile range (reading levels 0 to 2.5), so emergent striving readers can choose a book they can read and still find worth reading. The set mixes fiction and nonfiction across genres, with diverse, relatable characters and topics that go beyond the typical curriculum. Set A and Set B cover the same Lexile range with different titles, so you can add both for more variety.
This set also includes the Hi-Lo Book Comprehension Strategies Guide, a paperback teacher resource for grades 4-12 with 30 strategies you can use with any Hi-Lo book. The strategies are organized into before, during, and after reading, and each includes a visual example and a step-by-step lesson plan.
The books support striving readers with controlled text on each page, photos or illustrations to support comprehension, and engaging storylines and topics. This set is part of Saddleback’s Hi-Lo Classroom Libraries, leveled collections of high-interest, low-readability paperbacks that help you grow your classroom library, offer independent reading choices, and support targeted reading instruction.
Titles in this set may vary and are subject to change without notice, but every book will always fall within the BR-HL200L Lexile range.
