RISE™ is Level 5 in Saddleback's continuum for teen striving readers, the step right after SOAR™ [4]. Built for grades 9-12 readers at a reading level of 2.0 to 2.5 (Lexile HL180L to HL290L), RISE™ pushes reading stamina further with longer texts, more vocabulary, and more complex sentence structure, while staying controlled enough that students keep their footing.

Fiction titles at this level run 64 pages, and nonfiction titles run 72 pages, both landing in the 2,000 to 2,300 word range. The boxed set includes 20 titles across five genres, classics and retellings, crime and mystery, financial literacy, inspiration, and tragedy, with three fiction titles to every one nonfiction title in each genre. Each title includes progress-monitoring assessments, and the full set includes a comprehensive teacher's guide (lesson plans, strategic reading questions, comprehension activities, and assessments). RISE is designed for upper middle school and high school students striving to read, students with learning differences and special needs, and secondary English Language Learners and Newcomers.
