Excel™ is Level 3, the top and final level in Teen Emergent Reader Libraries®, following Engage® [2]. Built for grades 9-12 at a reading level of 1.0 to 1.5 (Lexile HL60L to HL170L), Excel hands readers off with the strongest foundation in the series, more text per book than Emerge™ or Engage®, while staying built on the same short-sentence, high-interest structure that got a striving reader reading in the first place.

The boxed set includes 20 titles across five genres: careers, fantasy, mythology, romance, and teenage firsts, with three fiction titles for every one nonfiction title in each genre. Each title includes progress-monitoring assessments, and the full set includes a comprehensive teacher's guide (lesson plans, strategic reading questions, comprehension activities, and assessments). Excel™ is designed for upper middle school and high school students striving to read, students with learning differences and special needs, and secondary English Language Learners and Newcomers.
