SOAR™ is Level 4 in Saddleback's continuum for teen striving readers, picking up right where the Teen Emergent Reader Libraries® leave off. Those three levels (EMERGE™, ENGAGE®, EXCEL™) take readers from 0 up through a 1.5 reading level. SOAR is the next step, built for grades 9-12 readers at a reading level of 1.6 to 2.0 (Lexile HL110L to HL240L), the point where a student has the basics down and is ready to build reading stamina rather than decode word by word.

Book length increases at this level, 64 pages and 1,400 to 1,800 words per title, so readers get real practice moving through longer fiction and nonfiction without losing the thread. The boxed set includes 20 titles across five genres, folktales and legends, history and culture, horror, sports, and STEM, with three fiction titles to every one nonfiction title in each genre. Each title includes progress-monitoring assessments, and the full set includes a comprehensive teacher's guide (lesson plans, strategic reading questions, comprehension activities, and assessments). SOAR is designed for upper middle school and high school students striving to read, students with learning differences and special needs, and secondary English Language Learners and Newcomers.
