Build students’ social and emotional learning skills with these engaging 48-page fiction books. Each pair focuses on an important SEL topic from a relatable tween perspective. One book in each pair showcases a middle school student successfully applying the skill. The other book features a main character who struggles with the skill and has to deal with the fallout. When read together, the pairs provide students with a basis for discussion about the topic and how it can affect their day-to-day life.
Like the GO! SEL Literacy Library, six topics focus on self-awareness and managing one’s own moods and attitudes, and six topics focus on social awareness and managing relationships with others. These books are original stories featuring tweens and are most appropriate for upper elementary and middle school classrooms.
Each pair features five emotion vocabulary terms for a total of 60 words. Vocabulary words are highlighted on the page where they first appear in the text and are listed with their definitions in the glossary at the back of each book. These words are also featured in the Emoti-Cards® (sold separately).
