Engage® is Level 2 of Teen Emergent Reader Libraries®, the step after Emerge™ [1]. Built for grades 9-12 at a reading level of 0.6 to 1.0 (Lexile BR to HL180L), Engage keeps the same short, simple sentences with highlighted "emphasis" words and full-color photo support, while giving students more text to build on as their confidence grows, still wrapped in mature, teen-centric storylines.

The boxed set includes 20 titles across five genres: friendship, health and safety, mystery, realistic life, and science fiction, with three fiction titles for every one nonfiction title in each genre. Each title includes progress-monitoring assessments, and the full set includes a comprehensive teacher's guide (lesson plans, strategic reading questions, comprehension activities, and assessments). Engage is designed for upper middle school and high school students striving to read, students with learning differences and special needs, and secondary English Language Learners and Newcomers.
