Emerge™ is Level 1 of Teen Emergent Reader Libraries®, the entry point in Saddleback's continuum for the most striving teen readers, those just starting to pick up a book at all. Built for grades 9-12 at a reading level of 0 to 0.5 (Lexile BR to HL60L), Emerge uses short, simple sentences with highlighted "emphasis" words and phrases to build confidence, paired with full-color photos to support comprehension, all wrapped in mature, teen-centric storylines rather than content written for a younger reader.

The boxed set includes 20 titles across five genres: action and adventure, fantasy and science fiction, history and culture, realistic life, and sports, with three fiction titles for every one nonfiction title in each genre. Each title includes progress-monitoring assessments, and the full set includes a comprehensive teacher's guide (lesson plans, strategic reading questions, comprehension activities, and assessments). Emerge is designed for upper middle school and high school students striving to read, students with learning differences and special needs, and secondary English Language Learners and Newcomers.
