Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is the process of looking within yourself and beyond yourself to build emotional health and social skills. Saddleback's SEL Teen Literacy Library® and GO! SEL Tween Literacy Library use nonfiction and fiction pairs to help striving readers in grades 4 to 12 think about and discuss the topics behind successful social interactions and emotional health, organized around 12 key SEL topics spanning self-awareness and social awareness. Tweens also have a lighter option in Social Emotional Tween Stories, a smaller set covering the same territory. Across both grade bands, Emotion Vocabulary Cards and Emoti-Cards® round out the collection with hands-on tools for naming and discussing feelings, useful in advisory periods, small groups, or as a daily check-in routine.
The GO! SEL Tween Literacy Library gives striving tween readers narrative-driven SEL content built around character education, for independent reading or classroom use. It's the most comprehensive option if you're building a full SEL block, and it pairs with Emotion Vocabulary Cards and Emoti-Cards® to name and discuss feelings in advisory periods, small groups, or as a daily check-in routine.
Social Emotional Tween Stories covers the same territory as the GO! SEL Tween Literacy Library in a smaller set, a lighter starting point for classrooms not ready for a full SEL block. It pairs with the same Emotion Vocabulary Cards and Emoti-Cards® for in-the-moment discussion of feelings.
The SEL Teen Literacy Library® uses nonfiction and fiction pairs to help striving teen readers think about and discuss the topics behind successful social interactions and emotional health. Organized around 12 key SEL topics spanning self-awareness and social awareness, it's the most comprehensive option for building a full SEL block into a middle or high school classroom or library.
Emotion Vocabulary Cards give students 60 full-color cards, five emotion words per topic, to help them build the vocabulary for naming and discussing how they feel. They work well as a standalone tool or alongside the SEL Teen Literacy Library® or GO! SEL Tween Literacy Library for daily check-ins, advisory periods, or small-group discussion.
Emoti-Cards® use 60 illustrated cards featuring facial cues and gestures, five per emotion topic, to help students recognize and name emotions through visual cues rather than words alone. Like the Emotion Vocabulary Cards, they work as a standalone discussion tool or alongside the SEL Teen Literacy Library® or GO! SEL Tween Literacy Library.
